Multifocal Lens Implants
At Whitsett Vision Group, we strive to offer the most advanced technology lenses that provide the best opportunities to become independent from glasses. The cataract surgeons at Whitsett Vision Group are highly experienced at implanting all these advanced technology lenses, including multifocal IOLs.
Multifocal lens implants allow patients to see at near, intermediate, and far distances after surgery, with little to no dependence on glasses. There are several multifocal lenses to choose from, and your surgeon and surgical counselor will discuss your specific needs and visual goals to determine which is the best choice for you.
Your surgeon will make a tiny incision, less than 1/8 of an inch wide, and use gentle vacuum suction to remove the natural lens from your eye. Next, through the same micro-incision, your multifocal IOL will be inserted, unfolded, and placed into the proper position. The incision is “self-healing” and usually requires no stitches — it heals quickly and provides a much more comfortable recuperation. The whole procedure usually takes less than 15 minutes.
If you have been diagnosed with cataracts, and wish to reduce or eliminate your dependence on glasses after cataract surgery, you may be a good candidate for a Multifocal IOL. Our doctors and staff will perform diagnostic testing, and discuss your lifestyle and visual goals to determine if this lens is a good fit for you. The best way to find out if you are a candidate is to schedule a cataract consultation.
